Since 2011, we have been collaborating with the Adams County Farmers Market Association to:
Fundraise to double dollars up to $25 for SNAP and S/FMNP users.
Promote an Electronic Benefit Machine (EBT) for use at the markets
Here’s how it works:
If a family has SNAP, they can swipe their EBT card up to receive $1 tokens worth the value they charged x2! So if I person charges $25 to their card, they get $50 in tokens to spend with any vendor selling food.
If someone has Farmers Market Nutrition Program (FMNP) checks (from WIC) or Senior FMNP checks (from the Office for Aging), they spend the check itself with a vendor at the market, and then take the receipt to the market tent to receive tokens matching that amount to then spend on anything else in the market.
