Many programs and organizations involved with the food policy council are referred to by abbreviations or acronyms. we’ve created this reference to explain each program/organization. Click on the acronym in green for more information.
ACFM/ACFMA Adams County Farmers Market (Association) Seasonal farmers market supporting many food access programs and the local economy
ACFPC Adams County Food Policy Council A task force of Healthy Adams County bringing stakeholders together regarding our local food system
ACOFA Adams County Office for Aging The office that provides resources and programming for older adults
ALICE Asset Limited, Income Constrained, Employed Earning more than the Federal Poverty Level, but not enough to afford the basics where they live
CHNA Community Health Needs Assessment A study done every three years to assess York and Adams counties' community health needs
CKP Campus Kitchen Project A Gettysburg College program that repurposes donated food into meals to be served at various community groups and events
EBT Electronic Benefits Transfer The card SNAP recipients use to make purchases and access their benefits
F&V Bucks SNAP Fruit and Vegetable Bucks Discount program at Kennies Market for SNAP shoppers during winter/spring months
FMNP Farmers Market Nutrition Program Checks distributed to families receiving WIC to spend at farmers markets
HO Healthy Options Voucher program for those who do not qualify for SNAP, but still fall in "the food gap"
PFTF Physical Fitness Task Force A task force of Healthy Adams County coordinating walks, hikes, and other exercise opportunities for the county
SCCAP South Central Community Action Programs Community organization located in Gettysburg serving the community in a variety of ways
SFMNP Senior Farmers Market Nutrition Program Checks distributed to seniors by the Office for Aging to spend at farmers markets
SNAP Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program Formerly food stamps; a program to help low-income families meet their nutritional needs
TGP The Gleaning Project Collects leftover/non-profitable produce from local farmers, gardeners, and growers
WIC Women, Infants, and Children Program to assist women, infants, and children in meeting their health and nutritional needs
